Life is a series of choices. What separates us from the animals is the ability to make choices through the process of reason. The inherant evil in the hearts of mankind causes a distortion of the reasoning process, thus you get evil choices. Only through the redemptive work of Jesus can this process be restored back to its default position, in the presence of God.
